Nutrient DataBank Numbers (NDB) The "Nutrient Data Bank" (NDB) number is a number assigned by the Nutrient Data Laboratories (NDL) of the USDA which uniquely identifies each food item. The NDB numbers assigned by USDA are integers - they contain no letters, decimals, or other characters.
